Complaining

1. Restrooms – where, toll, dirty, no restrooms, long queues…

A. Our villages are very small, authentic places where real people still live. They are not resorts. This accounts for some shortages in the management of intense tourism flows, such as few public restrooms, queues… anyway, if you go to a bar, have coffee or something to drink, you can ask the owner to use the toilet.

L. proactive. The best solution if you need a toilet is to go in bar, drink an espresso, pay 1 euro and you can use the toilet there. Public toilets are always very crowded and you have to pay, too. So it’s better to get a cup of coffee for the service

G. this is high season, so there are many tourists and everybody needs a toilet. To guarantee service, a toll is needed. Here there no restrooms, of course(wood), just go in the greenery, but remember not to throw away paper tissues and pick them up.

2 Unpoliteness of staff

L. people from Liguria are sometimes rude/blunt because they were used for many centuries to live a hard life. Being a farmer or a sailor or a fisherman here was not - and is still isn’t today – an easy life. Besides that, for a long time many places were isolated from the rest of the world. That explains why people here are not so open.

Especially in high seasons hotel/restaurant staffs are under pressure because of the enormous workload. Tourism is a high-touch industry. So sometimes workers are stressed.

3 Too little space (beach…)

Liguria is unique and beautiful because it has high mountains dropping down to the sea. Everything here is small, there is lack of space everywhere. We don’t have big sandy beaches (except in the Riviera di Ponente), but we have wonderful seabed that you can’t find in other places. If you like nature, snorkelling and scuba diving you are in the right place. If you want to play beach volley go to the RdP

4 Delays trains

A Train stations are very crowded so trains have to wait a long time for people to get on and off. So sometimes timetables are not respected and there are delays.

L the Ligurian railway system is complex. Due to the specific morphology of the region we don’t have speed train lines, in several places we just have two tracks or even only one. Furthermore, regional trains have to wait for fast trains, such IC or container trains.

2 Ferries – adding stops because of improved weather conditions

A sea conditions in our region usually change very quickly. So the ferry company may decide which stops to operate during the day according to them.
